Our History
The Chalet was built in 1964 by the Swiss immigrant Walter Sultzer, and his wife Eddy. Both of them stayed living in this magical place and are recognized for the touristic progress of The Encano, the lake, its gastronomic importance, and architectural influence. They personally collaborated with the local residents building houses with a singular "Swiss-Pastuso" style, especially in the zone of the "Puerto". They also contributed in the manufacturing of wooden boats and the development of region's gastronomy, creating a real culinary and customer service school, with the locals as students.
The Chalet is currently owned by the Colombian-Austrian Harold Zangen, who, next to his Spaniard wife Pilar Sánchez-Zangen, and the wonderful people from the region, have been working together on the Chalet for years, maintaining the style and essence of the place, while they enlarge and improve the hotel's infrastructure and create new options for recreation and relax, offering new choices for its visitors.
The Chalet is, before anything else, a place of peace, tranquility, landscapes and rest. At the same time, it's a space for adventure and ecotourism where horseback rides, hikes, mountain biking and boat rides to different reserve areas, among many other activities, take place.
It also has the "Pensatorium", an events center where corporate conventions, work meetings (such as educational workshops and retreats) family reunions and social events (like weddings, graduations, first communions, birthdays, etc.) are held.
